Code, Criminal Law § 8–607","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “public seal” means:\n(1) the great seal of the State;\n(2) the seal of any court of the State; or\n(3) any other public seal of the State.\n(b) A person may not:\n(1) counterfeit and use a public seal;\n(2) steal a public seal;\n(3) unlawfully and falsely, or with evil intent, affix a public seal to a deed, warrant, or writing; or\n(4) have and willfully conceal a counterfeit public seal, if the person knows that it was counterfeited.\n(c) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment for not less than 2 years and not exceeding 10 years.\n(d) A person who violates this section is subject to § 5-106(b) of the Courts Article.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=8-607","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"9981d77f97da092b8d26792c38a122b532cf0d6f8a06235467b2e2a82ca17a6e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-8-606.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-8-608"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
