Code, Criminal Law § 8–608","heading":"","body":"(a) A person may not:\n(1) counterfeit the stamp of the Comptroller;\n(2) unlawfully use or steal the stamp of the Comptroller;\n(3) unlawfully and falsely, or with evil intent, affix the stamp of the Comptroller to any written instrument; or\n(4) have and willfully conceal a counterfeit stamp of the Comptroller, if the person knows that it was counterfeited.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment for not less than 2 years and not exceeding 10 years.\n(c) A person who violates this section is subject to § 5-106(b) of the Courts Article.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=8-608","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"03d514abeedff574ef02c9e97877c3e2b7d8d5732647ed82254635b4fe292b96","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-8-607","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-8-609"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
