Code, Criminal Law § 8–702","heading":"","body":"(a) Unless the maker of a will gives instruction to the person keeping the will for safe custody, a person who receives a will for safe custody may not:\n(1) destroy the will; or\n(2) after the person learns of the death of the maker, willfully hide the will for a period of 6 months.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment for not less than 18 months and not exceeding 15 years.\n(c) A person who violates this section is subject to § 5-106(b) of the Courts Article.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=8-702","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"c114f3da5af816ccfdd648c3cf14af86565746cd4cd0ec16d08a4c308cf89802","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-8-701","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-8-801"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
