Code, Criminal Law § 9–203","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A person, including a candidate for office, may not give or directly or indirectly promise a gift or reward to secure a vote or a ballot at an election under the Constitution and laws of the State.\n(2) A person may not keep or allow to be kept a house or other accommodation in the State on an election day where, before the close of the election, the person, at the person’s expense, gratuitously provides alcoholic beverages to voters.\n(b) A person who violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to:\n(1) imprisonment not exceeding 6 months or a fine not exceeding $500 or both; and\n(2) any other penalties applicable under the Constitution.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=9-203","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"b32b92d80727e0eb9655efe54def576f584b842b3a93bdc34f7894f10a310aa0","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-9-202","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-9-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
