Code, Criminal Law § 9–704","heading":"","body":"(a) This section applies to a person possessing an identification badge or identification card required for employment or visitation that is issued by:\n(1) a unit of the State or a county, municipal corporation, special taxing district, or public corporation of the State; or\n(2) a person that owns or operates in the State:\n(i) a factory or warehouse or a manufacturing, printing, publishing, mechanical, or mercantile establishment or a plant of any kind;\n(ii) a mine or quarry;\n(iii) a railway; or\n(iv) a water, sewage, gas, electric, transmission, heating, refrigerating, telephone, or other publicly owned or public service company.\n(b) A person shall surrender each identification badge or identification card to its issuer when the person’s employment or authorized visit ends.\n(c) A person may not knowingly possess an identification badge or identification card after the person’s employment or authorized visit ends.\n(d) A person who willfully violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to imprisonment not exceeding 90 days or a fine not exceeding $500 or both.","path":["Article - Criminal Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcr\u0026section=9-704","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:08Z","sha256":"a0ef3d1c383b27d88bdce7acaf15bc565cfa4a426b9f5a924d0e3867cce31723","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-9-703","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-law-9-705"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
