Code, Criminal Procedure § 11–932","heading":"","body":"(a) A certifying entity or a certifying official may disclose information relating to a victim who is seeking certification, or who is seeking or has obtained U Nonimmigrant Status only:\n(1) to comply with federal law, a court order, or a discovery obligation in the prosecution of a criminal offense; or\n(2) if applicable, after the victim has waived confidentiality protections under the Violence Against Women Act under 34 U.S.C. § 12291(b)(2).\n(b) This section may not be construed to alter or diminish the duties and requirements of a law enforcement officer, a State’s Attorney, or the Attorney General from disclosing exculpatory information to a defendant in a criminal case.","path":["Article - Criminal Procedure"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcp\u0026section=11-932","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:17Z","sha256":"ed9462ac78074fa230574c845517d37c784ca9fbc2216a0f5c982a7a0939b0e7","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-procedure-11-931","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-procedure-11-934"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
