Code, Criminal Procedure § 15–401","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The State’s Attorney for a county shall receive:\n(i) an annual salary for performing the duties of the office as set forth in the public general laws and the public local laws of the county; and\n(ii) an annual payment for office, travel, and other expenses as provided by law and the current practice of the county.\n(2) Unless otherwise specified, a county shall pay the salary and expenses in equal monthly installments.\n(b) (1) Except for necessary travel and other expenses incurred in trying a case removed to another county, a State’s Attorney may not receive any other compensation for performing the duties of the office.\n(2) Any fees to which the State’s Attorney may be entitled shall be:\n(i) collected and paid to the governing body of the county; and\n(ii) credited to the general fund of the county.","path":["Article - Criminal Procedure"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcp\u0026section=15-401","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:17Z","sha256":"1b1eb66a79a220616f0a504797dfb9cfe856040924a882f07ce6ef5362d3d811","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-procedure-15-302","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-procedure-15-402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
