Code, Criminal Procedure § 2–507","heading":"","body":"This subtitle may not be construed to restrict the use of facial recognition technology for the purpose of:\n(1) identifying a missing or deceased person or a person who is incapacitated and unable to otherwise provide the person’s own identity;\n(2) redacting a recording or an image for release or disclosure to protect the privacy of an individual depicted in a recording or an image;\n(3) forensic analysis of electronic media seized by law enforcement in relation to a specific investigation if the person identified in the electronic media is not the subject of criminal charges resulting from the forensic analysis;\n(4) enhancing security systems for preventing unauthorized access to information, goods, materials, areas, or other properties under the custody or care of a law enforcement agency; or\n(5) conducting otherwise legitimate activity unrelated to a criminal investigation.","path":["Article - Criminal Procedure"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcp\u0026section=2-507","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:17Z","sha256":"a5c6d173c63d6506a5b24c8bf7cce74f2c7b0fea3387e059618a7b2e70c5915e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-procedure-2-506","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-procedure-2-508"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
