Code, Criminal Procedure § 6–105","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, a court in which a motion for a new trial in a criminal case is pending shall hear the motion:\n(1) within 10 days after the motion is filed; or\n(2) if an agreed statement of the evidence or a statement of the evidence certified by the trial judge is filed, within 10 days after the statement is filed.\n(b) The time for the hearing of a motion for a new trial may be extended by:\n(1) a written agreement, signed by the State’s Attorney of the county in which the motion is pending and the defendant or the defendant’s counsel; or\n(2) an order signed by the trial judge.","path":["Article - Criminal Procedure"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gcp\u0026section=6-105","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:17Z","sha256":"a77843d5ec863d3f712ae2ca2439ad194aa21c9b8b27e92e9b211fa4764914f4","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-procedure-6-104","next":"us-md/md.-code-criminal-procedure-6-106"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
