Code, Economic Development § 10–436","heading":"","body":"(a) The Commission shall contract with an independent scientific peer review committee composed of scientifically recognized experts in the field of stem cell research.\n(b) The committee shall:\n(1) review, evaluate, rank, and rate research proposals for State-funded stem cell research:\n(i) based on the procedures and guidelines established by the Commission; and\n(ii) in a manner that gives due consideration to the scientific, medical, and ethical implications of the research; and\n(2) make recommendations to the Commission, based on the rankings and ratings awarded to research proposals by the committee, for the award and disbursement of grants and loans under the Fund.\n(c) A member of the committee:\n(1) is not eligible to receive a grant or loan for State-funded stem cell research from the Fund;\n(2) may not reside in the State; and\n(3) shall be subject to conflict of interest standards that are at least as stringent as the standards on conflict of interest adopted by the National Institutes of Health.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=10-436","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"fd2e029f4898cf2c5e62aa9eca78375aa129de1374359bbd2a87868939a391f5","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-10-435","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-10-437"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
