Code, Economic Development § 10–701","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Board” means the Board of Trustees of the Maryland Venture Capital Trust.\n(c) “Investor” means a person or governmental entity that invests money in the Maryland Venture Capital Trust.\n(d) (1) “Seed capital financing” means financing provided to a business during the initial stages of its development.\n(2) “Seed capital financing” includes financing for a business:\n(i) to finish research and development of a product;\n(ii) to develop marketing plans; and\n(iii) to provide for initial facilities, inventory, and working capital.\n(e) “Trust” means the Maryland Venture Capital Trust.\n(f) “Venture capital fund” means an investment fund that provides capital to a business at any stage of its development before the business makes a public offering of stock.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=10-701","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"145e4d82b41418f41db058618302770d1cdbacf54647b6f15f2ab0872e5c3b9a","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-10-659","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-10-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
