Code, Economic Development § 10–702","heading":"","body":"(a) The General Assembly finds that:\n(1) small businesses are a major source of new jobs and innovations in the State;\n(2) the State’s research capacity could spur innovation in new and existing businesses to create and maintain jobs in the State; and\n(3) an inadequate supply of seed capital financing and venture capital funds has limited the commercialization of research and development in the State.\n(b) The General Assembly intends for the Trust to:\n(1) help fill the gap in the State’s economy caused by the inadequate supply of seed capital financing and venture capital funds; and\n(2) stimulate the commercialization of research and development to create and sustain businesses throughout the State.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=10-702","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"78d752c06d7253e02814c31ab14c49550b8e5b7765c7fc11f53a6b959dc641d5","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-10-701","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-10-703"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
