Code, Economic Development § 10–807","heading":"","body":"(a) A Board of Directors shall manage the Center and exercise its corporate powers.\n(b) The Board consists of the following nine members:\n(1) the Director, or the Director’s designee;\n(2) the Director of the Maryland Energy Innovation Institute, or the Director of the Maryland Energy Innovation Institute’s designee; and\n(3) seven members appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of the Senate:\n(i) one representing the nonprofit advanced clean energy research sector of the State;\n(ii) two with expertise in capital financing;\n(iii) two representing advanced clean energy industries in the State;\n(iv) one consumer member; and\n(v) one member of the general public.\n(c) A member of the Board shall reside in the State.\n(d) In making appointments to the Board, the Governor shall consider:\n(1) diversity; and\n(2) all geographic regions of the State.\n(e) A member of the Board:\n(1) may not receive compensation as a member of the Board; but\n(2) is entitled to reimbursement for expenses under the Standard State Travel Regulations, as provided in the State budget.\n(f) (1) The term of an appointed member is 4 years and begins on July 1.\n(2) The terms of the appointed members are staggered as required by the terms provided for members on October 1, 2008.\n(3) At the end of a term, an appointed member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(4) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(g) The Governor may remove an appointed member for incompetence, misconduct, or failure to perform the duties of the position.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=10-807","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"a0d1915371e26a0a971c55d249c51bdc00e29cf145cdeea8f433edf97aa87fda","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-10-806","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-10-808"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
