Code, Economic Development § 12–403","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to a public hearing under § 12–408 of this subtitle and to accomplish one or more of the legislative purposes listed in § 12–402 of this subtitle, the legislative body of a county or municipal corporation may adopt a local law to create a business improvement district in accordance with this subtitle.\n(b) Subsection (a) of this section is self–executing and fully authorizes a county or municipal corporation to establish a district, notwithstanding any other statutory or charter provision.\n(c) A local law adopted under subsection (a) of this section shall include:\n(1) the name of the district corporation;\n(2) that the district corporation is formed under this subtitle;\n(3) the names, addresses, and terms of office of the initial members of the board of directors of the district corporation;\n(4) the address of the principal office of the district corporation;\n(5) the purposes for which the district is formed;\n(6) the powers of the district, subject to the limitations on the powers of districts under this subtitle; and\n(7) if applicable, articles of incorporation of the district corporation.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=12-403","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"bbf95bfc314d0f50ad82b8e8ca92a54b7eee48178e4f6813ab3abe4e39565b70","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-12-402.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-12-404"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
