Code, Economic Development § 12–604","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to a public hearing under § 12–609 of this subtitle and to accomplish a legislative purpose listed in § 12–602 of this subtitle, the governing body of the county or a municipal corporation in the county may adopt a local law to create a business improvement district in accordance with this subtitle.\n(b) Subsection (a) of this section is self–executing and fully authorizes the county or a municipal corporation in the county to establish a district, notwithstanding any other statutory or charter provision.\n(c) A local law adopted under subsection (a) of this section shall include:\n(1) the name of the district corporation;\n(2) that the district corporation is formed under this subtitle;\n(3) the names, addresses, and terms of office of the initial members of the board of directors of the district corporation;\n(4) the address of the principal office of the district corporation;\n(5) the purposes for which the district is formed;\n(6) the powers of the district, subject to the limitations on the powers of districts under this subtitle; and\n(7) if applicable, articles of incorporation of the district corporation.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=12-604","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"9e73cc893b03a0eeab2c87a44fd085a3a432fa7664cef88ea53368c6ba8f7c27","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-12-603","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-12-605"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
