Code, Economic Development § 13–728","heading":"","body":"(a) There is a Western Maryland Regional Tourism Bureau in the Council.\n(b) The purposes of the Bureau are to:\n(1) develop advertising and marketing programs to disseminate information about the region;\n(2) stimulate tourism in the region;\n(3) encourage the development of the region’s recreational areas and facilities;\n(4) promote business and job opportunities in the region through tourism;\n(5) develop public awareness of the heritage and history of the region;\n(6) coordinate and facilitate special events programming for the region;\n(7) serve as a liaison between the region’s tourism industry, the Governor, the Department, other units of State government, private organizations, and the General Assembly; and\n(8) advise the Governor, the Department, and the General Assembly on programs affecting the tourism industry.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=13-728","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"f079ef2a317accc791635a81f2346915d487fd6c336b8265765c6e358a3a212f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-13-727","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-13-729"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
