Code, Economic Development § 4–510","heading":"","body":"(a) The Council may:\n(1) conduct a statewide survey of resources and needs in the arts;\n(2) determine the extent to which existing resources can fill the needs;\n(3) design new or expanded programs in the arts on its own or with arts organizations;\n(4) encourage and assist in the formation and activities of community arts councils;\n(5) provide technical and consultative assistance to arts organizations throughout the State;\n(6) provide logistical and financial assistance to encourage the touring of outstanding professional performances and exhibitions of art, from inside and outside the State, to communities throughout the State;\n(7) make awards for excellence in the arts;\n(8) make grants to arts organizations and individual artists;\n(9) cooperate with educational institutions and organizations to establish a higher level of education in and appreciation of the arts by students throughout the State;\n(10) explore the feasibility of regional arts programming in neighboring states and program exchange with other states, and implement the programs the Council considers advisable;\n(11) make recommendations to the Board of Public Works concerning appropriate aesthetic decorations, embellishments, accessories, and ornamentation to State projects, buildings, and property; and\n(12) conduct other programs consistent with this subtitle.\n(b) The Council:\n(1) shall publish an annual report; and\n(2) may publish other material.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=4-510","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"4afe990829e7b78c83fab8f29fd76a0fb8607173af441ff8ca750d7ed632a036","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-4-509","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-4-511"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
