Code, Economic Development § 4–703","heading":"","body":"(a) The following political subdivisions may apply to the Secretary to designate an arts and entertainment district:\n(1) a political subdivision for an area within that political subdivision;\n(2) with the prior consent of the municipal corporation, a county, on its own behalf or on behalf of a municipal corporation, for an area in the municipal corporation; or\n(3) two or more political subdivisions jointly for an area astride their common boundaries.\n(b) The application shall:\n(1) be in the form and manner and contain the information that the Secretary requires by regulation;\n(2) contain sufficient information to allow the Secretary to determine if the proposed district qualifies under §§ 4-701(c) and 4-704(a) of this subtitle; and\n(3) be submitted for a political subdivision by its chief elected officer or, if none, its governing body.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=4-703","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"6c60f08438f06b9592587391384790c2bf49f41d98328611e3b5c47db65b714d","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-4-702","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-4-704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
