Code, Economic Development § 4–704","heading":"","body":"(a) The Secretary may designate an area as an arts and entertainment district only if the area is a contiguous geographic area that is wholly within:\n(1) a priority funding area as provided under § 5–7B–02 of the State Finance and Procurement Article; or\n(2) a qualified opportunity zone designated under § 1400Z–1 of the Internal Revenue Code in Allegany County, Garrett County, Somerset County, or Wicomico County.\n(b) (1) Within 60 days after a submission date, the Secretary may designate one or more arts and entertainment districts from among the areas in the applications timely submitted.\n(2) A county may not receive more than one arts and entertainment district designation in a calendar year.\n(c) The designation of the Secretary is final.\n(d) At any time, a political subdivision may reapply to the Secretary to designate as an arts and entertainment district an area that is not so designated.","path":["Article - Economic Development"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gec\u0026section=4-704","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:28Z","sha256":"53e8719a8f109e7d508f79432068763f16ab3c526da0e497e6c77cab4bafba35","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-4-703","next":"us-md/md.-code-economic-development-4-705"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
