Code, Education § 10–207","heading":"","body":"The Maryland Higher Education Commission shall:\n(1) Advise the Governor and General Assembly on statewide higher education policy;\n(2) Conduct statewide planning for higher education;\n(3) Coordinate and arbitrate among different segments of higher education in the State;\n(4) Review, negotiate as necessary, and grant final approval of mission statements for each public institution of higher education and each regional higher education center that requests or receives State funding;\n(5) Assess the adequacy of operating and capital funding for public higher education and establish operating funding guidelines based on comparison with peer institutions and on other relevant criteria;\n(6) Establish and maintain a higher education information system for planning, coordination, and evaluation purposes;\n(7) Coordinate the State’s program of performance accountability reporting for public institutions of higher education; and\n(8) Administer statewide programs of student financial assistance for higher education.","path":["Article - Education"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ged\u0026section=10-207","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:38Z","sha256":"d1e3e2877ef4996af0865ea9609d06ce7be847c1e0884ba9b203d6fed2232717","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-education-10-206","next":"us-md/md.-code-education-10-208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
