Code, Education § 16–104","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in § 16–105 of this subtitle, each board of trustees shall appoint a president of each community college under its jurisdiction.\n(b) The president:\n(1) Shall report directly to the board of trustees;\n(2) Shall recommend the appointment by the board of qualified faculty members and other employees necessary for the efficient administration of the community college;\n(3) Shall recommend the discharge of employees for good cause; however, any employee with tenure shall be given reasonable notice of the grounds for dismissal and an opportunity to be heard;\n(4) Is responsible for the conduct of the community college and for the administration and supervision of its departments; and\n(5) Shall attend all meetings of the board, except those involving the president’s personal position as president.","path":["Article - Education"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ged\u0026section=16-104","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:38Z","sha256":"bb1bcf0642500f4d854f29bcb11bdd7f1f04c1fc1a843f893baf9063cd26419b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-education-16-103","next":"us-md/md.-code-education-16-105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
