Code, Education § 18–1401","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “part–time student” means a student who:\n(1) Is enrolled in a degree–granting program at an eligible institution and taking at least 3 but no more than 11 semester hours of courses each semester; or\n(2) Is dually enrolled in a secondary school in the State and an institution of higher education.\n(b) In cooperation with the institutions of higher education in the State, the Commission shall establish and administer a grant program for undergraduate part–time students.\n(c) A recipient of a part–time grant shall:\n(1) Except as provided in § 18–1401.1 of this subtitle, be a resident of the State; and\n(2) Have demonstrated a definite financial need according to criteria established by the Commission.\n(d) For courses completed under the program, a recipient who is dually enrolled in a secondary school in the State and an institution of higher education may not be required to receive credit from a secondary school and an institution of higher education at the same time.","path":["Article - Education"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ged\u0026section=18-1401","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:38Z","sha256":"0214416873fe3ea891b4413a16816f8fc73c3f480e2e38a75f9a4f88e951d88b","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-education-18-1207","next":"us-md/md.-code-education-18-1401.1"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
