Code, Education § 18–28A–03","heading":"","body":"The Office, in consultation with the Department, shall adopt regulations to establish:\n(1) The maximum starting income for eligibility in the Program;\n(2) The maximum total income for eligibility in the Program, including any additional sources of income;\n(3) That priority for participation in the Program shall be given to a farmer who:\n(i) Graduated from an institution of higher education in the State in the last 10 years;\n(ii) Is employed as a farmer on a full–time basis; and\n(iii) As determined by the Department in consultation with the Department of the Environment, uses sustainable agricultural techniques and demonstrates environmental stewardship;\n(4) A limit on the total amount of assistance provided by the Office in repaying the higher education loan of a farmer, based on the farmer’s total income and outstanding higher education loan balance;\n(5) A procedure and schedule for the payment of the amount of loan assistance provided by the Office to the farmer; and\n(6) An annual review of the eligibility of each farmer participating in the Program.","path":["Article - Education"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ged\u0026section=18-28A-03","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:38Z","sha256":"e27de51fea2fd34779ffdc59dcc3a98dc094bca236634d7a43be98ecb1719451","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-education-18-28a-02","next":"us-md/md.-code-education-18-28a-04"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
