Code, Education § 18–3005","heading":"","body":"To qualify for participation in the Program, an individual shall:\n(1) (i) 1. Be a student enrolled at a public or private nonprofit institution of higher education in the State that possesses a certificate of approval from the Commission; and\n2. Maintain a cumulative 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale each academic year;\n(ii) 1. Within 12 months before the date of application for the Program, have graduated from a public or private nonprofit institution of higher education in the State that possesses a certificate of approval from the Commission; and\n2. Have maintained a cumulative 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale during the latest academic year the individual was enrolled as a student;\n(iii) 1. Be a student enrolled at a public or private nonprofit institution of higher education outside the State, if the student graduated from a high school in the State; and\n2. Maintain a cumulative 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale each academic year; or\n(iv) 1. Have been honorably discharged from the uniformed services or a reserve component within 18 months of the date of application;\n2. Be a resident of Maryland; and\n3. Have graduated from a public or private nonprofit institution of higher education;\n(2) Commit to working a minimum of 120 hours during a spring, fall, or summer semester;\n(3) Attend an orientation session provided or approved by UMBC; and\n(4) Meet any other criteria established by UMBC.","path":["Article - Education"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ged\u0026section=18-3005","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:38Z","sha256":"a36e9bb1c785d9a14113c4af003a622a5c9f2c013c92c4f8d29612aed0b4d1ec","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-education-18-3004","next":"us-md/md.-code-education-18-3006"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
