Code, Education § 3–13A–04","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, the Wicomico County Council shall appoint an individual to fill a vacancy of an elected member on the county board in accordance with § 3–13A–03 of this subtitle.\n(b) (1) If a vacancy for an elected member occurs before the date that is 30 days before the date for filing a certificate of candidacy for the primary election in the presidential election year, the individual appointed under subsection (a) of this section shall serve only until a successor is elected by the voters at the next general election.\n(2) Candidates for the vacated office may be nominated at a primary election in the same manner as for any other position on the county board.","path":["Article - Education"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ged\u0026section=3-13A-04","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:38Z","sha256":"4d03a38ca545c9033c686e3a045c9e0df47378904a0dac74701c1e5f75c53773","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-education-3-13a-03","next":"us-md/md.-code-education-3-13a-05"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
