Code, Education § 8–705","heading":"","body":"(a) The Board shall govern a program.\n(b) (1) The Board consists of 25 members.\n(2) Of the 25 members:\n(i) 5 shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice of the State Superintendent and the advice and consent of the Senate; and\n(ii) 20 shall be selected in accordance with the charter and bylaws of the program.\n(c) (1) The term of a member is 3 years.\n(2) The terms of the members are staggered as required by the terms provided for members of the Board on July 1, 2006.\n(3) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed or selected and qualifies.\n(4) A member may not serve for more than 3 consecutive full terms.\n(5) A vacancy shall be filled in the same manner in which the vacating member was appointed or selected.\n(d) The Board shall determine its officers.","path":["Article - Education"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=ged\u0026section=8-705","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:38Z","sha256":"fb51e7b87838dc909a16992fd47d34ea9025c1e04f909ce790073b8c55bdd3b8","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-education-8-704.1","next":"us-md/md.-code-education-8-706"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
