Code, Election Law § 10–305","heading":"","body":"(a) If there is a vacancy in the polling place staff during voting hours:\n(1) the local board may fill the vacancy with a substitute election judge who has been recruited and trained; or\n(2) an election judge who is present at the polling place may fill the position of the absent election judge by appointing a person registered with the same party affiliation as the absent election judge.\n(b) If a substitute election judge is appointed under subsection (a) of this section:\n(1) either the election director, the election director’s designee, or the election judge making the substitute appointment shall administer the oath required under § 10-204 of this title; and\n(2) a chief election judge shall document any change in the polling place staff in the records of the polling place.","path":["Article - Election Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gel\u0026section=10-305","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:47Z","sha256":"9e53f614515bd731652037d43e60ee90220fedeffde231834829e41533e9f57e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-election-law-10-304","next":"us-md/md.-code-election-law-10-306"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
