Code, Election Law § 10–403","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A local board may participate in the Program.\n(2) A participating local board shall implement or use components of the page training program developed by the State Board under § 10–402(c)(1) of this subtitle.\n(3) A participating local board may request from the State Board a waiver from a requirement established under this subtitle.\n(b) Each participating local board shall:\n(1) be responsible for the staffing of and implementation of a page training program;\n(2) ensure each page receives the required training before election day; and\n(3) encourage individuals at least 16 years old who apply to the Program to train as an election judge.\n(c) An individual may not work as a page in a polling place unless the individual has completed the training provided by the local board.\n(d) Each participating local board, in collaboration with the local school system, shall establish a procedure for the selection of pages by the local board.\n(e) Each participating local board may recognize and certify community service hours for pages.\n(f) This section does not require a local board to participate in the Program.","path":["Article - Election Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gel\u0026section=10-403","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:47Z","sha256":"f990f15ecbb5e7825551d7b8d2c45e3cf17a06b87ed57b65b8764110945de659","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-election-law-10-402","next":"us-md/md.-code-election-law-10-404"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
