Code, Election Law § 16–1001","heading":"","body":"(a) A person convicted of a misdemeanor under this article for which no penalty is specifically provided is subject to a fine of not less than $10 nor more than $250 or imprisonment for not less than 30 days nor more than 6 months or both.\n(b) A person who is convicted of any criminal violation of this article shall be disqualified permanently from serving as an election judge, board member, or employee of a board.\n(c) A candidate who is convicted of any practice prohibited by this article shall be ineligible to be elected or appointed to any public office or employment for a period of 5 years following the date of the conviction.","path":["Article - Election Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gel\u0026section=16-1001","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:47Z","sha256":"0125aa677cdbf1ba806ae9c344825c5b36352326e900d221e38cd44b6f96869e","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-election-law-16-904","next":"us-md/md.-code-election-law-16-1002"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
