Code, Election Law § 9–206","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in paragraph (2) of this subsection, a heading shall be printed at the top of the ballot and shall contain, in the following order:\n(1) the words “Official Ballot”;\n(2) the type of election, i.e., regular or special, primary or general, and any other information required to identify the election being held;\n(3) the date of the election;\n(4) the words “State of Maryland” and the name of the county;\n(5) in a primary election, the name of the political party or the words “nonpartisan ballot”, as applicable, for which the ballot or a portion of the ballot is to be used; and\n(6) if more than one ballot style will be used in the county in the election, the ballot style indicator.\n(b) The provisions of subsection (a) of this section do not apply to a voting machine ballot if the State Board determines there is insufficient space.","path":["Article - Election Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gel\u0026section=9-206","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:47Z","sha256":"2a1764ecfeb103e565af68d8822e80d2244538f15be21a52fee1a950ac108c09","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-election-law-9-205","next":"us-md/md.-code-election-law-9-207"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
