Code, Environment § 13–202","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) The Board consists of seven members appointed by the Governor with the advice of the Secretary and the advice and consent of the Senate.\n(2) Of the seven Board members:\n(i) One shall be from the Department of the Environment;\n(ii) One shall be from the Department of Natural Resources;\n(iii) One shall be a public member; and\n(iv) Four shall be licensed master well drillers who are actively practicing well drilling at the time of appointment and shall include:\n1. One from Caroline, Cecil, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, Somerset, Talbot, Wicomico, or Worcester county;\n2. One from Baltimore City or Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard, or Montgomery county;\n3. One from Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince George’s, or St. Mary’s county; and\n4. One from Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, or Washington county.\n(b) Before taking office, each appointee to the Board shall take the oath required by Article I, § 9 of the Maryland Constitution.\n(c) (1) The term of a member is 2 years.\n(2) At the end of a term, a member continues to serve until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(3) A member who is appointed after a term has begun serves only for the rest of the term and until a successor is appointed and qualifies.\n(d) The Governor may remove a member for incompetence or misconduct.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=13-202","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"ac3ed3b9371925f5670ff3ad4e9ba0bdefbfe75a28f58a7c9acab34dc8e0b616","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-13-201","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-13-203"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
