Code, Environment § 3–101","heading":"","body":"(a) In this title the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Environmental noise standard” means a goal for the limitation of noise, from all sources, that exists in a defined area under specified conditions.\n(c) (1) “Noise” means the intensity, frequency, duration, and character of sound.\n(2) “Noise” includes sound and vibration of subaudible frequencies.\n(d) “Political subdivision” means a county or municipal corporation of this State.\n(e) “Sound level limit” means the maximum allowable noise emission from a noise source in a defined area under specified conditions.\n(f) “Source” means any person or property from which sound originates.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=3-101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"63acd38b0510685920cfb3fb93baf8ca664e25109c2fbcacedcc13584748ae3c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-2-1602","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-3-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
