Code, Environment § 5–515","heading":"","body":"(a) After or concurrently with the service of a complaint under this subtitle relating to water appropriation and use, the Department may:\n(1) Issue an order that requires the person to whom the order is directed to take corrective action within a time set in the order;\n(2) Send a written notice that requires the person to whom the notice is directed to file a written report about the alleged violation; or\n(3) Send a written notice that requires the person to whom the notice is directed:\n(i) To appear at a hearing before the Department at a time and place the Department sets to answer the charges in the complaint; or\n(ii) To file a written report and also to appear at a hearing before the Department at a time and place the Department sets to answer the charges in the complaint.\n(b) Any order issued under this section is effective immediately, according to its terms, when it is served.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=5-515","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"72d33d774be38f175cca1837ab3c637b14f25931f791e1981db50c9854564d4f","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-5-514","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-5-516"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
