Code, Environment § 5–5B–01","heading":"","body":"(a) In this subtitle the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Expanded water appropriation permit” means a revised permit granting a significant increase in the withdrawal of water authorized under the existing water appropriation permit.\n(c) “Public water system” has the meaning stated in § 9–401 of this article and is a water system located in the State.\n(d) “Water conservation” means the use of practices, techniques, and technologies that:\n(1) Reduce the consumption, loss, or waste of water;\n(2) Improve efficiency in the use of water; or\n(3) Make more efficient use of water treatment infrastructure.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=5-5B-01","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"9d7964ee09271783e49ad420bad8ad5800f996bdfb9c92de126f69dc5cf42ffc","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-5-516","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-5-5b-02"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
