Code, Environment § 6–1604.1","heading":"","body":"(a) This section does not apply to the sale or resale of a used rug or carpet.\n(b) On or after January 1, 2024, a person may not manufacture or knowingly sell, offer for sale, or distribute for sale or use in the State a rug or carpet to which PFAS chemicals have been intentionally added.\n(c) (1) A person that manufactures a rug or carpet for sale or use in the State shall establish a certificate of compliance to attest that the rug or carpet is in compliance with the requirements of this section.\n(2) Within 30 days after a request by the Department, a person shall provide the certificate of compliance established under paragraph (1) of this subsection to the Department.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=6-1604.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"e9e59d2c0218c291c4ac52da94f5ba2fc757a21e068235a1c5db300efb6328cb","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-6-1604","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-6-1605"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
