Code, Environment § 8–503","heading":"","body":"(a) After or concurrently with service of a complaint under this subtitle, the Department may:\n(1) Issue an order that requires the person to whom it is directed to take corrective action within a time set in the order;\n(2) Send a written notice that requires the person to whom it is directed to file a written report about the alleged violation in not less than 5 days from service of the order; or\n(3) Send a written notice that requires the person to whom the notice is directed:\n(i) To appear at a hearing before the Department at a time and place the Department sets to answer the allegations of the complaint; or\n(ii) To file a written report and also appear at a hearing before the Department at a time and place the Department sets to answer the charges in the complaint.\n(b) Any order issued under this section is effective immediately, according to its terms, when it is served.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=8-503","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"26f88adad21fb4611b8b4eda2ed6daf857ec0d3867c3a3f369fcdf1d1e8c0d11","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-8-502","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-8-504"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
