Code, Environment § 9–1101","heading":"","body":"(a) In Garrett County, before constructing on private property a building that will need a septic tank disposal system, the person who proposes to construct the building shall obtain a septic tank permit from the Garrett County Health Department.\n(b) An applicant for a septic tank permit under this section shall submit to the Garrett County Health Department:\n(1) An application on the form that the Garrett County Health Department requires; and\n(2) A plan for the septic tank system.\n(c) Before issuing a septic tank permit, the Garrett County Health Department may inspect the site of the proposed septic tank.\n(d) If it approves the application, the Garrett County Health Department shall issue a septic tank permit.\n(e) A person may not build a septic tank in violation of this section.\n(f) A person who violates subsection (e) of this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $100.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=9-1101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"0de015c7ff2665e7c97c1ab4d090d230c52fa479ff4cabd12b66023fcfb4019c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-1027","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-1102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
