Code, Environment § 9–1109","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “individual sewerage system” means a privately owned system of sewers, piping and treatment tanks or other facilities that:\n(1) Serves only a single lot for the disposal of sewage; and\n(2) Discharges to the surface waters of the State.\n(b) Except as provided in subsection (c) of this section, a person may not install an individual sewerage system in the State.\n(c) Subject to the Department’s approval, a person may install an individual sewerage system in the State for residential use if an existing on–site sewage disposal system fails and cannot be repaired or replaced by any means.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=9-1109","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"8b11876752629016c4a86d15832c2c404e1a01b1f61a118feefb1ae6fb956f97","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-1108.2","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-1110"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
