Code, Environment § 9–1113","heading":"","body":"(a) In this section, “reusable diverted water” means water that:\n(1) Is generated by:\n(i) Backwashing an on–site potable water treatment system; or\n(ii) Using an ice maker;\n(2) Is collected for reuse instead of discharged to a residential on–site sewage disposal system; and\n(3) Contains no constituents that are detrimental to public health or the environment.\n(b) (1) Subject to paragraph (2) of this subsection, a person may use reusable diverted water for beneficial purposes, including:\n(i) Gardening;\n(ii) Composting;\n(iii) Lawn watering; and\n(iv) Irrigation.\n(2) A person may use reusable diverted water only:\n(i) On the site on which the reusable diverted water originates; and\n(ii) In accordance with any applicable State and local laws or regulations, including State and local plumbing codes.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=9-1113","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"800e69dcde054722c1bba4b9736de0a135ac1341037198d180b07bda00c7fbe8","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-1112","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-1114"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
