Code, Environment § 9–268.1","heading":"","body":"(a) In addition to other penalties authorized under this subtitle:\n(1) A person who violates § 9-228(f)(2) of this subtitle is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $1,000, or imprisonment not exceeding 30 days or both;\n(2) A person who violates § 9-228(f)(2) of this subtitle for monetary or financial gain is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $25,000 or imprisonment not exceeding 5 years or both; and\n(3) A person who violates § 9-228(b), (h)(1), (i)(1), or (j)(1) of this subtitle, or a regulation, order, or permit adopted or issued under § 9-228(b), (h)(1), (i)(1), or (j)(1) of this subtitle, is guilty of a misdemeanor and on conviction is subject to a fine not exceeding $10,000.\n(b) (1) The Attorney General shall represent the State in every case arising under § 9–228 of this subtitle.\n(2) This subsection may not limit or affect the power of State’s Attorneys under § 15–102 of the Criminal Procedure Article.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=9-268.1","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"02c9850191bc41c1864a6db2c23e61e7b9fc4bbee10fdd9dba3a37554320a076","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-268","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-269"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
