Code, Environment § 9–916","heading":"","body":"(a) (1) A majority of the full authorized membership of the board of directors of an authority is a quorum to do business.\n(2) Unless the bylaws require a larger number, the board may take any action by a majority vote of the directors present at a validly called meeting.\n(b) The board shall determine the times and places of its meetings.\n(c) (1) A citizen director is entitled to the compensation set by:\n(i) The governing body of the single political subdivision that incorporated or continues the authority; or\n(ii) The governing bodies of the member political subdivisions.\n(2) However, the compensation for a citizen director may not be increased or decreased during the term of the director.\n(3) A director who is also a member of the governing body of a political subdivision may not receive compensation for service as a director.\n(d) The board may:\n(1) Set the number of officers, agents, and employees that the board considers proper;\n(2) Set the powers, duties, and compensation for these employees; and\n(3) Elect or appoint any director as an officer, agent, or employee.","path":["Article - Environment"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gen\u0026section=9-916","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:57:58Z","sha256":"76b3e5e4dac26c051b16d943db1b1205ef73d29cd32b71aa3288f66ebafe0481","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-915","next":"us-md/md.-code-environment-9-917"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
