Code, Estates and Trusts § 14.5–705","heading":"","body":"(a) A trustee may resign:\n(1) On at least 30 days’ notice to:\n(i) The qualified beneficiaries;\n(ii) The settlor, if living;\n(iii) All cotrustees; and\n(iv) Any person that has a right to replace or appoint a successor to the resigning trustee; or\n(2) With the approval of the court.\n(b) In approving a resignation of a trustee, the court may issue orders and impose conditions reasonably necessary for the protection of the trust property.\n(c) Liability of a resigning trustee or of a surety on the bond of the trustee for acts or omissions of the trustee is not discharged or affected by the resignation of the trustee.","path":["Article - Estates and Trusts"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=get\u0026section=14.5-705","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:07Z","sha256":"c90e67897a9c97bd644d2710f89bc5b1ef37ef1852b38c7de8a381e4110c8617","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-estates-and-trusts-14.5-704","next":"us-md/md.-code-estates-and-trusts-14.5-706"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
