Code, Family Law § 10–101","heading":"","body":"(a) In this title the following words have the meanings indicated.\n(b) “Administration” means the Child Support Administration of the Department of Human Services.\n(c) “Earnings” includes:\n(1) any form of periodic payment to an individual, including:\n(i) an annuity;\n(ii) a pension;\n(iii) Social Security payments;\n(iv) workers’ compensation payments; and\n(v) unemployment insurance benefits; and\n(2) any commissions or fees paid in connection with the obligor’s employment.\n(d) (1) “Employer” means any person who is paying earnings to an obligor.\n(2) “Employer” includes a governmental entity.\n(e) “Local support enforcement office” means 1 of the following that is responsible for support enforcement:\n(1) a county agency; or\n(2) a component of the circuit court for a county.\n(f) (1) “Obligee” means any person who is entitled to receive support.\n(2) “Obligee” includes a state.\n(g) “Obligor” means an individual who is required to pay support under a court order.\n(h) “Support” includes:\n(1) child support;\n(2) spousal support;\n(3) support of destitute adult children; and\n(4) support of destitute parents.\n(i) “Support enforcement agency” means 1 of the following that receives support payments under a court order:\n(1) the Administration; or\n(2) a local support enforcement office.","path":["Article - Family Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfl\u0026section=10-101","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:17Z","sha256":"ce28373a4aefade84437091d2b9e11e8865ec401446ad2650a0c73ddda7b5ab7","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-9.7-111","next":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-10-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
