Code, Family Law § 5–1006","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as otherwise provided in subsection (d) of this section, a proceeding to establish paternity of a child under this subtitle may be begun at any time before the child’s eighteenth birthday.\n(b) A paternity proceeding under this subtitle may be begun during pregnancy.\n(c) A complaint under this subtitle is not barred because the child born out of wedlock was conceived or born outside this State.\n(d) A proceeding to establish paternity of a child who is dependent on a parent because of a mental or physical infirmity may be begun at any time before the child’s twenty–first birthday.","path":["Article - Family Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfl\u0026section=5-1006","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:17Z","sha256":"1072ae33515ce0c7c6b3d4c721ad0508b3145e9ae77b45228cd523d38699d8f1","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-5-1005","next":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-5-1007"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
