Code, Family Law § 5–1025","heading":"","body":"(a) The trial may not be held until after the birth of the child who is the subject of the proceeding.\n(b) If a complaint is filed before the birth of the child, then, until the trial is held, the court may:\n(1) order the alleged father or the pregnant woman to give bond, as provided in § 5-1014 of this subtitle, conditioned on the party:\n(i) appearing in the proceeding; and\n(ii) complying with any further orders of the court;\n(2) increase or decrease any bond previously given by the alleged father or the pregnant woman; and\n(3) conduct any other preliminary proceeding that the court considers just and proper.","path":["Article - Family Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfl\u0026section=5-1025","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:17Z","sha256":"b3cd7bf1a35a54057b633b28526aa2b54162b92d9f80c7f324382ba27605817c","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-5-1024","next":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-5-1026"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
