Code, Family Law § 5–319","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsection (b) of this section, a juvenile court shall rule on a guardianship petition:\n(1) within 180 days after the petition is filed; and\n(2) within 45 days after the earlier of:\n(i) receipt of all of the consents required under this Part II of this subtitle; or\n(ii) trial on the merits.\n(b) A juvenile court may not enter an order for guardianship of a child under this subtitle before the later of:\n(1) 30 days after the birth of the child;\n(2) expiration of the time set for revocation of consent, and not waived, under § 5–321(c) of this subtitle; or\n(3) expiration of the time to respond to the show–cause order issued under § 5–316 of this subtitle.","path":["Article - Family Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfl\u0026section=5-319","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:17Z","sha256":"c79789d41d95bbad15e4f6b351b0095b20d35ccf20d515b52768e9371acadfce","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-5-318","next":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-5-320"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
