Code, Family Law § 5–336","heading":"","body":"(a) Subject to subsection (b) of this section, a juvenile court shall rule on an adoption petition under this Part III of this subtitle promptly but no later than 180 days after the petition is filed.\n(b) A juvenile court may not enter an order for adoption of a child under this Part III of this subtitle before the later of:\n(1) 30 days after the birth of the child;\n(2) expiration of the time set for revocation of consent, and not waived, under § 5–339 of this subtitle; or\n(3) expiration of the time to respond to show–cause orders issued under this subtitle.","path":["Article - Family Law"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfl\u0026section=5-336","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:17Z","sha256":"26b723545b62d65bbf4a709c772c30fcb2b8bba088c46caa7e6f412c5e5b54bd","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-5-335","next":"us-md/md.-code-family-law-5-337"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
