{"data":{"id":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-12-1203","jurisdiction":"us-md","citation":"Md. Code, Financial Institutions § 12–1203","heading":"","body":"(a) Beginning January 1, 2026, a virtual currency kiosk operator shall register a virtual currency kiosk with the Commissioner before operating the virtual currency kiosk in the State.\n(b) An application for registration shall include:\n(1) The name of the virtual currency kiosk operator;\n(2) The address of the virtual currency kiosk operator;\n(3) Unique identifying information for the virtual currency kiosk, such as the manufacturer name, model number, serial number, or asset tag;\n(4) If the virtual currency kiosk operator intends to operate the virtual currency kiosk from any fixed location for more than 30 days in a calendar year, each physical address where the virtual currency kiosk will be operated;\n(5) If the virtual currency kiosk operator intends to operate the virtual currency kiosk at any location for 30 days or less in a calendar year, the geographic area where the licensee intends to operate the virtual currency kiosk; and\n(6) Any other information that the Commissioner requires by regulation.\n(c) A virtual currency kiosk operator:\n(1) Shall renew the registration on an annual basis; and\n(2) May be required to pay a fee at the time of renewal.\n(d) The Commissioner may adopt and enforce:\n(1) Registration procedures for virtual currency kiosks, which may include the use of NMLS;\n(2) Registration fees for virtual currency kiosks, which may include fees for the use of NMLS, to be paid directly by the virtual currency kiosk operator;\n(3) Procedures and fees for renewing a virtual currency kiosk’s registration, which may include fees for the renewed use of NMLS, to be paid directly by the virtual currency kiosk operator;\n(4) Regulations regarding the lighting and safety of virtual currency kiosk locations; and\n(5) Regulations regarding appropriate signage to clearly identify a kiosk as a virtual currency kiosk.","path":["Article - Financial Institutions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfi\u0026section=12-1203","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:27Z","sha256":"7bbecc0bc309166b90d25e6993601572e4a8ec2961866cded75882d3bd929120","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-12-1202","next":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-12-1204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
