Code, Financial Institutions § 12–126","heading":"","body":"(a) The Commissioner may impose a civil penalty against a person who violates this subtitle in an amount not exceeding:\n(1) $10,000 for a first offense; and\n(2) $25,000 for each subsequent offense.\n(b) In determining the amount of civil penalty to be imposed under subsection (a) of this section, the Commissioner shall consider the following:\n(1) The seriousness of the violation;\n(2) The good faith of the violator;\n(3) The violator’s history of previous violations;\n(4) The deleterious effect of the violation on the public;\n(5) The assets of the violator; and\n(6) Any other factor relevant to the determination of the civil penalty.","path":["Article - Financial Institutions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfi\u0026section=12-126","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:27Z","sha256":"f86973b9d387c7d6271289a1df9b5153b03c5d9b4fec4d76fd1fc724b677b5ea","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-12-125","next":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-12-127"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
