Code, Financial Institutions § 12–207","heading":"","body":"(a) Except as provided in subsection (b) of this section, a foreign banking corporation may not have an office in this State for any purpose unless:\n(1) The foreign banking corporation obtains from the Commissioner a permit for the office; or\n(2) The office is authorized under:\n(i) The Riegle–Neal Interstate Banking and Branching Efficiency Act of 1994 or other federal law; or\n(ii) Title 5, Subtitle 9 or Subtitle 10 of this article.\n(b) A foreign banking corporation that maintains another license issued by the Commissioner is exempt from obtaining a permit under this section.","path":["Article - Financial Institutions"],"source_url":"https://mgaleg.maryland.gov/mgawebsite/Laws/StatuteText?article=gfi\u0026section=12-207","current_through":"2026-01-01","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-14T19:58:27Z","sha256":"8a93e3a65be1279aa38185e307f7a9749e930764cd0393ab343eba57f43cbfd1","source_id":"us-md","stale":false,"prev":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-12-201","next":"us-md/md.-code-financial-institutions-12-208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
